What is Clear-It and how is it so much better than the conventional Task Manager?
Clear-It began as a solution to the problem of CD production mis-runs caused by background applications. With time, the need for other related functions became apparent.
Clear-It can close all programs and applications in both foreground and background at the touch of a button, and uses the "Safe" mode initially (won't shut down vital operating system services), while offering "Emergency Stop" (Shuts down everything and leaves it to the operating system to reinitialise any vital services) as a last resort option once the memory has been cleared. It is useful for rapidly shutting down uncooperative or frozen applications and has been used to disable worms that were running as a distinct and independent program.
Clear-It also lists all background programs (even some that do not show up on the task manager) and gives you the option to purge any number and selection of these applications from your computer's memory. This makes Clear-It the ideal tool for troubleshooting minor operating system glitches.
